Markus Rauchecker has been a research scientist at ISOE since August 2020. His research focuses on environmental governance and environmental conflicts between stakeholders with regard to the subject areas (transgenic) agriculture, land use and biodiversity. His analyses are based on concepts of policy analysis, political geography and political ecology. He received his doctorate in political science from the Free University of Berlin on conflicts over pesticide use in transgenic agriculture in Argentina. Prior to that, he studied political science, geography and history at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg and at the Free University of Berlin.
